Our Manager Mechatronics & Program Manager about Drive & Control: “Extreme positioning is key in many of our systems. At the front of the creation process, the team identifies which drivetrain is appropriate for the specified movement. Questions that shall be addressed are for example, what type of actuator are we going to use? (stepper, BLDC, voice coil, reluctance?) What should the drivetrain look like between the actuator and the load? (belt, spindle, or direct drive?) Does the previous choice have implications for the calibration strategy? For many drive topologies it must be indicated what the requirements are for control engineering. What should the bandwidth be and are the dynamics of the drivetrain compatible with those requirements? The solution is often interwoven in the system, which makes the Drive & Control team an incubator for future system architects.”
This is what brings you to the table
