Material that changes colour as it stretches could be used in medical bandages

An obsolete photographic technique that won a Nobel prize over a century ago has been resurrected to create a novel material that changes colour when stretched. Researchers say it could be used to create bandages that warn medics if they’re being wrapped too loosely or as mechanical sensors that require no electronics.
