Agileo Automation

Founded in Poitiers, France in 2010, Agileo Automation specializes in software solutions for controlling production equipment in the semiconductor industry and connecting tools to the company’s manufacturing execution system (MES) using widely adopted industrial standards. OEMs work with a wide variety of clients, wafer sizes, and carrier types found in advanced packaging facilities. We provide flexible software solutions to their complex integration challenges, including specialized advice on selecting robotic systems.

We help start-ups embrace the world of automation for their fab equipment, a world unfamiliar to them, as they often come from the research lab community. They develop innovative and complex production equipment, but they have limited knowledge of automation technologies needed to integrate it into the operational environment of a real-world manufacturing wafer fab. We help them prepare the machines to connect with commercially available robots, manage the operator interface, integrate with the company’s IT systems like MES, etc., ensuring a much faster time-to-market.

Our team is used to developing software in parallel to production machines being designed and built. A key aspect of our value proposition is minimizing the time spent on software development within the critical path of overall equipment planning. We develop our own digital twins and decouple hardware and software. Some of this manufacturing equipment is shipped to the other side of the world where it not only has to be installed, but also has to be maintained. Our software solutions take this kind of use case into account from the very beginning to solve issues remotely, ensuring full confidence in the quality of the software modifications made.

UNITY SC : Reducing dependency on EFEM manufacturers

February 12, 2025

To integrate its inspection and metrology modules into its customers’ industrial production lines, UnitySC uses different EFEMs (robotic wafer-loading platforms) depending on the semiconductors and types of wafers used. This diversity of equipment ended up slowing down the integration process. “Configuring the control of EFEMs using their respective manufacturer’s software can take up to two months, thus delaying the deployment of our process modules on our customers’ production,” explains Eloi Delorme, General Manager and CFO of UnitySC.

UnitySC entrusted Agileo with solving this challenge and relied on Agileo’s A²ECF-SEMI  framework to manage the different loading platforms available on the market from its process modules. “ More info

2025: Expanded GEM300 Standard Usage and Cybersecurity

January 29, 2025

As we look toward 2025, one trend we observe gaining momentum is the increased adoption of GEM300 standards for wafer sizes smaller than 300mm. Historically, GEM300 was predominantly associated with 300mm tools, but its relevance is now expanding across fabs that are being retrofitted or that are introducing automated guided vehicles (AGV) and overhead hoist transport (OHT) systems for wafer delivery.
