How ASML Makes Chips Faster With Its New $400 Million High NA Machine

In a highly secured lab in the Netherlands, ASML spent a decade developing a $400 million machine that’s transforming how microchips are made. High NA is the latest generation of EUV, the only machines in the world that can etch nanoscopic blueprints on advanced chips for giants like Intel, TSMC and Samsung. The size of a double-decker bus, only five of these machines have been shipped so far. It’s unclear how Trump’s tariffs will impact the complex global supply chain for the lithography machines. But without them, no advanced chips can be made by the likes of Nvidia, Apple and AMD. No filming of High NA has ever been allowed until CNBC went to the Netherlands for this exclusive first look. Personeelstekort drijft investeringen in technologie en automatisering

Twee derde van de ondernemers kampt met personeelstekort, blijkt uit de Conjunctuurenquête Nederland van april 2025 (CBS, KVK, EIB, MKB-Nederland, VNO-NCW). Deze nieuwe brandstofcel maakt elektrisch vliegen misschien eindelijk haalbaar

Elektrische vliegtuigen lijken voorlopig nog altijd grotendeels toekomstmuziek. Dat heeft een simpele reden: batterijen zijn veel te zwaar. Een vliegtuig dat op stroom vliegt, zou het grootste deel van zijn gewicht immers moeten gebruiken voor energieopslag in plaats van passagiers. Maar daar komt misschien verandering in. Onderzoekers van MIT hebben een nieuwe technologie ontwikkeld die deze hindernis misschien zou kunnen overwinnen. This soft robot ‘thinks’ with its legs

A research team from AMOLF in Amsterdam created a soft robot that walks, hops, and swims — all without a brain, electronics, or AI. Just soft tubes, air, and some clever physics. Powered by a continuous stream of air alone, each of the robot’s soft, tubular legs begins to oscillate — not unlike those tube dancers. On its own, each leg waves around randomly. But when many are coupled together, something unexpected happens: their motions quickly synchronise, falling into rhythmic locomotion gaits hitting 30 body lengths per second.
