Every satellite’s journey of millions of kilometres through space begins on Earth: with the shipping of sensitive and precise optical ground support equipment (OGSE) for instrument testing of GALA ((Ganymede Laser Altimeter) on the ESA satellite JUICE (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer), performing final end-to-end testing on spacecraft level and the flawless shipment to the launch site in Kourou. This is exactly what the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) approached IPS Technology for because of its vast experience and available disciplines to safely transport delicate technology from cleanroom to cleanroom. The developed packaging was successfully tested by DLR in Berlin, Germany, and then deployed for transport to the satellite’s integration and testing facility in Toulouse, France. Read more
